Herbal Medicine is the use of plants in treatment of an illness and also for well being (preventative). Herbs are useful for treating symptomatically or for increasing the immune function. Herbs are food - they are nutritional and healing.
Medicinal herbs have been used and documented for many centuries. They are gentle (great for children and the elderly) and work with the body's own natural healing ability as well as working alongside other therapies or medications. Herbs also help the individual have some control in their own health.
A herbalist is trained in most illnesses that a medical practitioner would treat and therefore knows minor conditions as well as the more serious conditions. In fact, herbs may be able to help in areas where drugs are ineffective. A case history including diet and lifestyle determines which herbs are best for the individual. Sometimes it may be appropriate to do on-line consultations but never for children.
